Website Maintenance & Support

The unglamorous work that keeps sites alive

Updates, backups, security patching, and someone to call when something breaks, so your website doesn't quietly decay between projects.

Why it matters

Neglect is gradual, then sudden

Nothing appears to go wrong for months. Plugins drift out of date, a certificate lapses, backups silently stop running. Then one update fails and the site is down on the day you least want it to be.

Maintenance is unexciting precisely because it's working. The goal is that you rarely have to think about your website at all.

Server and network equipment in a rack

Core, theme & plugin updates

Tested on staging before they touch the live site.

Offsite backups

Taken on a schedule and, crucially, restore-tested.

Security hardening & monitoring

Sensible configuration, not just a plugin.

Uptime & error monitoring

We usually know before you do.

Small content & fix requests

The ten-minute jobs that otherwise wait months.

Periodic health reports

Plain-English, including when nothing needed doing.

Our approach

Proactive, not reactive

Most "maintenance" is really just waiting for something to break. The difference shows up on the bad day.

Comparison of reactive break-fix support against proactive maintenance
Waiting for it to break How we work
Updates Deferred — applied late, all at once, on the live site. Scheduled — applied regularly, tested on staging first.
Backups Assumed — nobody has tried restoring one. Verified — restores are actually tested.
Finding problems Reactive — a customer emails to say the site is down. Monitored — we are alerted, often before anyone notices.
Security After the fact — patched once something has happened. Up front — hardened first, patched on a schedule.
Small changes Queued — held until they justify a whole project. Included — handled within the plan as they come up.
Cost shape Unpredictable — emergencies are expensive. Predictable — a monthly figure, with fewer emergencies.

Plans are scoped to your site rather than sold in fixed tiers: a small brochure site and a busy store need genuinely different attention.

Who it's for

A good fit if any of this sounds familiar

Nobody knows when it was last updated

We audit the current state and get you back to a known, safe baseline.

Your developer has moved on

We pick up undocumented sites regularly. First step is always working out what's there.

Small fixes wait months

A plan makes the ten-minute jobs routine instead of something that needs a quote.

You have no in-house technical cover

We become the number to call, without you hiring for it.

FAQ

Maintenance questions

Yes, and it's a large part of this service. We start with an audit, because taking on a site without understanding it helps nobody. Occasionally that audit concludes the site needs work before a plan makes sense. We'll say so rather than quietly signing you up.

It depends on the size of the site, the platform, and how much hands-on time you want included. We scope it after the audit and quote a fixed monthly figure, no tiers designed to push you upward.

Not by default. We'd rather you own the hosting account directly. We'll advise on a suitable host, help you set it up, and manage the site on it.

Monitoring alerts us, we investigate, and we keep you informed in plain language while we work. Response expectations are agreed in writing up front so there's no ambiguity when it matters.

Yes. You keep the hosting, the accounts, and the site. We hand over documentation of everything we've been doing so whoever takes over isn't starting blind.
